Visual puns

A basket case

As a homesteader, my life gets ultra busy in the summer. If you get bored waiting around for new blog posts from me during this lull, feel free to hop on over to my facebook page, where I’ve been sharing clever and not-so-clever tidbits like this visual pun. I’m looking forward to seeing you over there!

The Complete Bloodling Serial is now wide!

Bloodling

Wolfie was thrilled to hear that he’s now available wide! (No, I don’t think he knows what that means, but it made him feel pretty special anyway.)

If you’ve been waiting to read The Complete Bloodling Serial until it was available somewhere other than Amazon, here are the relevant links:

Amazon nook apple google kobo smashwords

You can also get a sneak peek excerpt of the first episode before buying.

And if you’ve already read it and have an account elsewhere, perhaps you’d take a minute to copy your review over? I’d be very grateful and Wolfie’s head would swell just a little more…. Thanks so much for your help!

A conversation with Hunter

Poll results

Aimee: I polled my super-readers and 55% of them said they’d like to hear about your background. Do you think you have a short story in you?

Hunter: Sure.

Aimee to herself: Hmm, he sure is terse. But I’ll bet I can drag at least one anecdote of him.

One week of dictation later….

Aimee: I’m starting to get worried here. I’ve already pounded out 6,000 words…and we’re not quite to the one-quarter mark yet. I thought you said you’d give me a short story.

Hunter: I am.

Aimee: A short story is under 7,500 words. A novelette would be okay — that’s 7,500 words to 17,500 words. More than that and we’re in novella territory and pushing into my fall deadline for Wolf Landing.

Hunter: Do you want to hear this story or not?

Aimee [sighing]: Okay. What happened next?

***

In other words, your bonus short story is turning into a bonus novella and Wolf Landing might arrive in late fall rather than in mid fall. I swear it’s not my fault. Here, how about you take a poll to help me decide on a title so Hunter can make me ignore that request just like he did your previous one?

Lone Wolf Dawn is live!

Lone Wolf DawnI’m excited to announce that book two in the Alpha Underground series is live on Amazon! And as a thank you for my loyal fans, you can now catch up on Fen’s two-book adventure for a grand total of 99 cents. That’s right, Lone Wolf Dawn is 99 cents and Half Wolf is free for the next few days. So grab them both while they’re hot!

In case you’re wavering, I thought I’d regale you with a few highlights from the early reviews:

“Romance, passion, suspense, and intrigue all in one book” — happyreader10

“Fun, exciting, thoughtful, suspenseful” — L. Dalzell

“An awesome power packed modern story” — Diana P

“I have never read a book that makes me feel so much a part of their world.” — Celeste C. Crotts

“Rarely does a second book surpass the first, but this does.” — Amazon Customer

Not yet sold? Perhaps it will help to mention that both books are free to borrow with Kindle Unlimited.

I hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it! And now to dive into Hunter’s background as a Navy EOD (pun intended). His bonus story should go live sometime in August.

Alpha Ascendant is now wide!

Alpha AscendantThose of you who have been waiting to finish up my Wolf Rampant series on your nook, ipad, etc., will be pleased to know that Alpha Ascendant has finally dropped out of its Amazon Select period and is now available everywhere ebooks are sold.

Not sure if you want to make the leap? Here are a few reviews to pique your interest:

“The best book in the series”

“Heart-pounding suspense, true love and affection (no graphic sex), family conflicts, … just about everything you could ask for”

“I read this in a single night”

And here are the buy links:

And now to ask you for a huge favor…. Are you one of my super-readers who picked up Alpha Ascendant already and left a review on Amazon? If so, you would make my day if you copied and pasted that review onto any or all of the retailers above. Please don’t create new accounts if you don’t already have one, and if you’ve only got time for one or two retailers my best sellers (beyond Amazon) appear to be Nook and Apple. No matter how much or how little you’re able to do, I sincerely appreciate it!

Wanna connect on facebook?

Urban fantasy facebook group

I’m a Luddite; I admit it. I was actually an early internet adopter, coding my first website by hand in html. But times changed and I stayed stuck in my ways, unwilling to adapt to newfangled human interaction like social media. I mean, why did we leave ytalk behind anyway?

Ahem…. Rant aside, this post is meant to inform you that I did finally decide to come up to speed and create a personal facebook page…mostly so I could join this fun group for urban fantasy readers and writers. If you enjoy facebook, I hope you’ll come over and check both sites out!

Going wide with the Wolf Rampant series

Wolf Rampant seriesAs some of you may know, indie authors have a major decision to make each time they upload a book to Amazon. Do we commit to keeping the book on Amazon only, with the perk that our book is then eligible to be borrowed by Kindle Unlimited subscribers? Or do we go “wide” — meaning we upload our book at other retailers too…but lose the right to have our book borrowed?

My books have done very well with borrows in the past. But now that Shiftless is free on all retailers, I decided to try my hand at going wide. This is an experiment, meaning that if sales on the other retailers don’t make up the income I lose from Amazon borrows within the next few months I’ll throw my hat back into the Kindle Unlimited ring. (Gotta pay the bills so I can keep writing Fen’s series!)

What does it mean to you? Pack Princess is now available at the following locations:

Shiftless is available wide as well:

And Alpha Ascendant will be hitting wide distribution in early June. (I’m as yet undecided about whether to make The Complete Bloodling Serial wide. For now, though, you can always snag a copy by signing up for my email list.)

If you want to help me out, I can use reviews on all of those retailers. (Copying and pasting your existing review from Amazon or Goodreads is entirely legit.) Or snag a copy on one of the non-Amazon sites now if you prefer reading in a non-kindle format. Thanks in advance for your help!

Eight dozen free books

Free books

This month’s group promo is very heavy on the high-quality books, and every title is FREE. Of the authors I’ve read, I can 100% recommend to you:

  • Lindsay Buroker’s Balanced on the Blade’s Edge — I might have recommended this book here before. If not, let me just say this is a standalone romance that also begins a series of interconnected semi-standalones. The world-building is unique and intriguing, the characters are top notch, and I still remember the plot approximately 20 books later. (That last point is a ringing endorsement given my memory and speed reading habits….)
  • Ruby Lionsdrake’s Mercenary Instinct — Pure swashbuckling space opera fun. Also a standalone romance despite being the first book in a series. (The whole series is delicious too.)
  • C.J. Archer’s The Medium — This book is such a delightful combination of the Victorian era, ghosts, and a light romance. Warning: cliffhanger ending, but didn’t make me want to throw the book across the room.
  • Seven Against the Dark — This seven-book box set is extremely high quality (although the second book has a maddening cliffhanger — maybe skip that one).

And those are just the offerings where I’ve read the specific book in question — several other of the included authors have wowed me with different titles in the past. With nearly 100 free books to choose from, it would be hard to go wrong…unless you dilly dally and miss the two-day event. So check them out now!
