Last call on 99-cent deals

Paranormal After DarkI just wanted to give you a quick heads-up that Half Wolf will be raising to full price Saturday. So if you want to nab it at the 99-cent fan rate, now’s your chance!

And while I’m telling you about 99-cent books, Paranormal After Dark (a 20-novel box set that includes my Complete Bloodling Serial) is marked down to 99 cents today too. This box set could provide a month of reading for a very low price. I hope you enjoy it!

Every werewolf knows the meek won’t inherit the earth

Half Wolf

I’m excited to announce that Half Wolf is now available to buy or borrow on Amazon! I’ve set the price as low as possible — 99 cents — for the first week to make it easy for fans to pick up a copy. But don’t delay — Half Wolf will be going back to full price soon.

Early reviewers are calling the book “compelling and well paced” and “tense, dramatic, sexy, and intriguing.” “You won’t be able to put it down,” promises another reader. And, more personally, this is the book I’ve had the most fun writing. I hope you have just as much fun reading it!

Not sold yet? Here are answers to a few frequently asked questions:

Does this book follow Alpha Ascendant or can it be read alone? Both! Half Wolf is the beginning of a spinoff series with Fen at the helm and I was careful to make sure you don’t need to know anything about the Wolf Rampant trilogy to enjoy this book. That said, the book begins a month after Alpha Ascendant ends. So if you absolutely don’t want any spoilers for that earlier trilogy, then you should read those books first.

Can my kids read Half Wolf? The Wolf Rampant trilogy was often mistaken for a young-adult series because there were no open-door sex scenes. And while some of you enjoyed that version of romance, 96% of you begged for more. So, by popular demand, I’ve upped the heat level in this new series to what romance novelists term “warm.” If you feel comfortable letting  your kids watch an R-rated movie, though, they’ll probably do fine with this book.

What else is different about this new series? I hope you’ll think it’s even better than the last! Fen is younger but much more of a kickass heroine than Terra was, Hunter is trouble wrapped up in a mouth-watering package, and Fen’s shifter buddies are equal parts loyal and annoying. The main difference is that Fen is a half-werewolf and an outcast, which makes her lot in life even tougher than Terra’s. Luckily, she’s strong and smart enough to make it work.

Does the book end in a cliffhanger? Half Wolf ends a bit like Shiftless does — the main story is wrapped up in a nice bow…then I tease you about book two. But I won’t make you wait so long for the sequel this time around. Packless is due to launch in June 2016.

Sound interesting? I hope you’ll grab your copy today. And if you want to earn my eternal gratitude, please consider writing a review when you’re done — your kind words help others decide whether to take a chance on a new author and spur me to keep on writing. Thank you so much! You are why I write.

A bunch of SF/F books free on Kobo or via Kindle Unlimited

Huge Science Fiction and Fantasy Sal

Are you searching for something to read? Look no further! Over 100 books in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, dystopian, and speculative romance are currently FREE to either download on Kobo or borrow on Amazon via Kindle Unlimited. Here’s the link to the promo site.

I’ve discounted Pack Princess (my contribution in the Kindle Unlimited section) to 99 cents for a limited time for folks who want to play along but don’t read on Kobo or subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. Many of the other authors have similarly discounted their titles, so this is a great way to pick up cheap books as well.

Which books do I recommend? I haven’t read a lot of them (yet!), but I adored C. Gockel’s I Bring the Fire in the free section and am really looking forward to trying some of the others. I’ll be curious to hear which ones particularly float your boat as you give them a read.

Interview with a were-jaguar

Jaguar at the PortalAimee: Thanks for dropping by, Ixchel and Finn. I thought it might be fun to test your knowledge of each other in the Newlywed Game!
Ixchel: But we’re…

Finn: Sounds like fun!

Ixchel: …Not married. Okay, whatever.

Aimee: Thanks for being such good sports. You’ll notice you each have a notepad in front of you. I’m going to start with an easy question about Finn. He’ll write down his answer and then Ixchel has to guess what he wrote. Finn, if you could be any animal, what would you be?

[They pause while Finn scribbles on the notepad.]

Ixchel: [rolling her eyes] This is an easy one. A jaguar, of course.

Aimee: Finn? [She accepts the pad of paper out of his hand and takes a look.] Oops! Not quite right. Looks like Finn would be…a dolphin!

Ixchel: But that makes no sense! You are a were-jaguar.

Finn: She said, if I could be any animal, which would I be. And I’d be a dolphin.

Ixchel: [sighing] Okay. Let’s get this over with. I’ve got puppies in the waiting room that need their shots. What’s next?

Aimee: Now we get to test Finn’s knowledge. So I’ll ask Ixchel — what do you consider your greatest weakness?

[Finn scrunches his eyebrows together, obviously thinking hard as Ixchel scribbles for a long time on her pad of paper.]

Aimee: Okay, Finn, you’re up. What’s Ixchel’s greatest failing?

Finn: So, first of all, this is one of those trick questions that men have a right not to answer.

Ixchel: Oh, come on. I’m not going to get mad at you.

Finn: [gazing into her eyes] But, see, it’s not really a trick question. Because Aimee didn’t ask what I think is your greatest failing — which, by the way, is nothing. She asked what you think is your greatest failing. And you’d say…trust.

Aimee: Well, it seemed like Ixchel was writing a novel over there. So let’s see if Finn was right.
[Ixchel grins as she flips the paper over. The edges are covered with doodles, but in the center she’s boldly scrawled “TRUST.”]

Aimee: Finn’s on a roll! Okay, let’s see if Ixchel can catch up as we ask Finn….what would prompt you to tell a lie?

[Now it’s Finn’s turn to look uncomfortable, but he quickly scribbles his answer.]

Aimee: Ixchel?

Ixchel: [reaching over and taking Finn’s hand] You know, we can leave if you want to.

Finn: [taking a deep breath] No, I’m good. It’s your chance to shine.

Ixchel: Okay, in that case, Finn would say — fear.

Aimee: Looks like you know him pretty well after all. Now, for our final question. Ixchel…do you believe in love at first sight?

[Finn perks back up as they wait for Ixchel to decide. She taps the pen against her lips, scrunches up her nose, then shrugs and writes.]

Aimee: [accepting the paper, then smiling knowingly] So, what do you think, Finn?

Finn: [sounding positive of the outcome] She doesn’t, but I do.
[Ixchel’s stiff spine melts a bit as she takes the paper back from the interviewer and flips the pad over. It reads “I didn’t used to…but
I’ve changed my mind.”]
Aimee: Well, it looks like it’s a tie, folks!

Finn: You could say that. Or you could say we both won.

[Finn pulls Ixchel in for a kiss on the lips.]

Aimee: Ooookay. Let’s keep this PG, kids. We’ll try out another round after this commercial break.

Deep-voiced announcer: Want to learn more about Finn and Ixchel’s adventures facing down Mexican gods and falling in love? Check out Aimee Easterling’s Jaguar at the Portal, available for a limited time in the 21-novel bundle Happily Ever Alpha. When once upon a time isn’t enough….

Paranormal After Dark

Bookish problems

I’m excited to announce that my Complete Bloodling Serial…along with 19 other novels and novel-length serials…is now available as part of the Paranormal After Dark box set! If you’re subscribed to kindle unlimited, you can borrow the box set for free, or you can buy it for three bucks.

I’ve actually let my kindle unlimited subscription lapse so I don’t feel guilty about spending weeks reading all of the amazing contributions this time around. I’ll be sure to post again once I have some favorites to recommend, and I hope you’ll comment too if one particularly hits the spot for you. Enjoy!

Paranormal after dark

Thank you for helping me hit the USA Today bestseller list!

USA Today Bestseller

A huge thank you to everyone who gave Happily Ever Alpha a shot! With your help, this 21-novel box set soared up the charts and hit #117 on the USA Today bestseller list for the week of February 4. I was so excited, I could barely sit still!

If you haven’t checked the set out yet, it’s still on sale for another three months. And the title is now enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, so you can read for free if you subscribe. I hope you enjoy some of these paranormal romances and urban fantasies — Just a Little Nudge is my current favorite, but I’ve still got several more to read.

Oh, and did I mention how grateful I am to you the reader? Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your support makes those words fly onto the page. You are why I write.

Half Wolf cover reveal

Half WolfI’m still plugging away at the first draft of the first book my new Alpha Underground series. Fen has been a joy to write about…so much of a joy in fact that she seems to add to my word count whenever I attempt to wrap her story up.

“I’ll buy you a pretty, pretty cover if you’ll let me rest my wrists and resolve this novel,” I bartered.

“Maybe,” Fen answered.

So, I bought her a cover. Whether she’ll let me out of her grasp anytime soon is another matter.

More seriously, what do you think of this amazing cover designed by the talented Rebecca Frank? If you’re an author in need of some literary artwork, I highly recommend her — her prices are fair, her work is fast, her covers are fabulous. What more do you need to know?

For readers — stay tuned next week for an unpolished excerpt from Fen’s first draft!

Happily Ever Alpha

Happily Ever AlphaToday’s the big day we’ve all been waiting for — Happily Ever Alpha is live! You’ve got just a few days left to catch this massive bundle of 21 full-length paranormal novels for 99 cents, then the price goes up to $2.99.

There’s something for everyone, with sexy shifters, wickedly cool witches, vampires, gargoyles, demons, psychics, and more. My book Jaguar at the Portal is included too, so if you missed that novel, now’s your chance to get it ultra-cheap. Or, if you have Kindle Unlimited and just want to dive into a month of reading, you can borrow the box set and gorge. I hope you enjoy it!

Midnight Prowl: FREE short story

Jaguar at the PortalAs I transfer over from my old site, there are a few things I don’t want to fall by the wayside. First and foremost, here’s a free short story I published late last year — Midnight Prowl.

This is a bonus happily ever after for Jaguar at the Portal in which Finn takes Ixchel on an after-hours date in an art museum. So be sure to read the novel first if you don’t want to spoil the ending!

Then why not sign up for Shifter Secrets if you’d like more free stories delivered to your inbox? Happy reading!
